Front end differences 72 vs 78

Can anyone tell me what differences there are between a 72 front suspension / steering and the same from a 78 suburban 2wd? I'm considering installing an entire cross member (suspension and steering) from a 78 suburban in 69 C10, but may have a choice to use a 72 instead.

Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

I asked a similar question a few months ago about my 71 and 79 which is similar in just about every way here. the crossmember will interchange completely you may have to drill some holes but as far as length and everything its a perfect match. I had the motor out of the 79 in my 71 and the headers wouldnt bolt up because they hit the 71 crossmember I decided its cheaper to buy headers for a 71 well maybe not cheaper but easier. but I believe if you use part of it you have to use it all not just part of it, I may be wrong on that but I think thats what I was told. the only real difference that I remember is the frame is longer from front to back on the 78 then it is on the 72. front crossmember should be almost if not completely just a bolt on deal. and a day or so of wrenching drinking and a whole lot of cussing.
