Intermediate Brake Cable Installation Trouble
Is there a trick to connecting all the pieces of the parking brake cable system? It seems that I’m 2-3 inches short. I have all the pieces, but just can’t get them to connect

Are you sure the pedal/handle is released all the way? If it is are you sure that the cable from the pedal/handle is extended all the way out of the housing under the truck? You might try pulling on it while someone operates the pedal/handle to make sure. I have seen them get kinked under the dash if the cable doesn't slide in the housing freely. Just a couple of things to check out... LockDoc

Re: Intermediate Brake Cable Installation Trouble
Seems to be a rash of intermediate cable install problems...
Just like mentioned above, have you brought the adjuster nut all the way out? Are the rear drum brakes fresh? I noticed when the drum adjuster is opened, it adds more distance to the E brake cable. Is there a chance that you have one frame connector in the wrong frame hole? Or, have you tried cabling it all up minus connecting to one frame connector? Then once you have it all strung up, and the adjust as slack as it will go; pull on it to hook the cable to the last frame connector. Then adjust per specification.

Re: Intermediate Brake Cable Installation Trouble
Pull the cables out of the drums as hard as you can, have a pair of vice grips ready to clamp the inner cable so it doesn't go back in. (not so hard as to damage the cable). That is assuming that they are not bound up.

Re: Intermediate Brake Cable Installation Trouble
I gave it a shot and no movement. Don't know what to do. Just another unfinished project that has added to the delay of getting this thing done.

Re: Intermediate Brake Cable Installation Trouble
you could blame it on Kevin....on second thought, dont do that
When you guys shaved the firewall you filled in all the holes? or did you save the parking brake hole? could it be coming through in a new, more hidden location?

Re: Intermediate Brake Cable Installation Trouble
Sorry, movement from pulling the cables attached to the rear drums. Everything related to the E-brake cable is new. Would taking the rear brakes apart and then attaching the cable make a difference?
