my wintertime time killer

so my engine crapped out again, i cant complain much it last a couple of years and i bought it straight from the junk yard and put it straight into my truck. so this time thanks to dad (sammy) we found a 350 on craigslist. The guy that had it acquired when buying out a garage and didnt know anything about the engine. it looked like a fresh rebuild with assembly lube visible visible in all the right places. it was minus the intake, oil pump, valve covers and oil pan. So a deal was struck and we took it home, it even came with the engine stand. so now to the fun part removing the old and in with the new. even with heat in the garage there hasnt been many decent days to mess with it but here is pics to show what we have done up to now.

Re: my wintertime time killer

the numbers show a 4 bolt main truck engine, the heads are from a 400, we have been slowly adding parts to it from the old to the new, you can see half of the serpentine set up here

Re: my wintertime time killer

Nice weather 75 today. Added the other Serp bracket, WP, cleaned the Intake up with some cleaning n paint, used a can of carb cleaner on the carb. Alls left before install is torque the intake, add the PS Pump, finish installing the Dampner (need to rent the tool), plugs n wires and dist., and adj the valves. Clean n prep the truck frame of gunk.
See if I have an update pic.

Fram is for intial run.

#8 Rod on the ol motor is toast with about 1/16th inch of play.

Looks good man. Parents just ordered a camper from down by you guys. Did you get it all put together? Oh and did you get an exhaust with a little higher ground clearance put in?

It has been awhile ago that we got those delete AC pulleys. The last one I ordered on line. By using google search option. Typed in a search "A/C Delete Pulley" and it sent me to where to order mine. Firedogs we got thru a savy local parts place. He ordered it came in the very next day. Coulda been as much as $22 shipped if I recall correctly?? On mine..after installing the pulley there was a smaller Serp runner pulley just below where you put the delete pulley that had to also be removed as it kept throwing the belt off. Removed it without any additional complications. If you can't find the delete pulley make another post I do a search find the part number for you.

http://platinumparts.com/da-1698-2100002.aspx here is one but I didn't see a price. You can always get a part number off one of the sites and shop around or even order thru your local guy too. Good Luck.

Re: my wintertime time killer

Actually have run into a stumble..not sure yet about the valve adjustment and timing. Very hard to determine TDC with a serp system masking the timing mark. Battery giving us fits and my charger went dead. But shes pumping oil. Will revisit this W/E with the setback.

NP..yeah I'm going to look at battery chargers that are on sale tomorrow. Maybe you can send some dry Tx weather up this way so I can get something done on Firedogs Trk.
