Hood Differences, 47-54

I'm about to get a little more serious in my search for a hood for my '50. What are the differences in hoods through the 47-54 model years?

Thanks!

It seems to me that the only difference is the holes and brackets for mounting the emblems. Hoods should be interchangeable as long as you dont mind running different 3100's.

54/55S1 has a different hood emblem at the front as well. Different hole locations because the badge is "flipped" when compared to the older hoods. Other than that, they all pretty much are the same up to and including 1 tons.

The 47/53 hoods are the same from half ton to 1-1/2 ton. The fenders are different on the 1-1/2 ton with the bigger openings but the hoods are the same. If you were going to blank off the front of the hood a 54 hood would work fine.

In case you didn't know - Chevy hoods are slightly different than GMC hoods

Re: Hood Differences, 47-54

Thanks to all!

I can deal with trim differences, more concerned with hinges/latch and overall fit. Sounds like I'm good to go with most any "year" hood.

Thanks again.
