Gauges 56 Prostreet
Prostreet guys: What are you going to do about gauges and dashboard set up? I dont mind the "V" dash setup in the chevy but I dont think that it will work with the gauges that I need. I dont mind chopping up the dashboard to make it work either. I would like something modern that will give me accuracy and alerts (visual or audible) if there is a problem. Also need a shift light of some type or a tach that changes colors or what ever. I was looking at glowshift or something like that. Any ideas what I can do with a chevy dash? I appreciate your feedback.

Re: Gauges 56 Prostreet
I took the hump out of my dash and plan on running Dolphin gauges with a Sun tach. The gauges will be evenly place in the dash with the speedo in the center and 2 gauges on either side of it. I'm still not sure where I will mount the tach.

Re: Gauges 56 Prostreet
i dont i just cut the old dash face out rolled a new sheet to match the radius at the bottom then trimed the top to fit. then just evenly space your gauges and hole saw them where you want them

Re: Gauges 56 Prostreet
I'm curious about this also. I still have the factory dash gauges and I have added a row of aftermarket gauges mounted to the underside of the dash. I'm looking for alternatives.

Re: Gauges 56 Prostreet
poncho I'm at the same place on mine. Running the stock gauges for speedo, oil, water, amp and gas. Going aftermarket for trans temp and tach probably to the right of the steering under the dash. Also integrating it with the center AC ducts. I found I can't see them under the dash between the steering and door jamb because of the turn signal stalk on my column.

Re: Gauges 56 Prostreet
Well I am ashamed to say the first order of business is to get all matching gauges

Re: Gauges 56 Prostreet
I like what Dewey777 did with his gauge cluster, but I want to keep the stock speedo with the big sweeping needle rather than a round pod. So I'm thinking of keeping that and installing the four 2" round gauges at the top in the same locations as the factory ones just like he did. It might be too crowded. And that still leaves the tach somewhere's else. On top of the dash for the tach is not an option, so it might have to be all by itself on the right side of the steering column or under the dash.

Re: Gauges 56 Prostreet
I might have found the gauge set up..
http://www.racepak.com/Information/UDX.php Does everything with all programed via PC plug in. Has all warning lights including shift light on gauge or out to a shift light. It is 10" wide and 4" tall. |
