Different Hoods

Speaking with another member today forced me to look at my GMC hood and compare it to my Chevy hood, both trucks are 65. Are there other variations other than the following?

The following the GMC has more of a flared front...

Thanks Scott I would have probably sold the GMC one without even realizing it.

Question Re: Different Hoods

Hi, I just bought my first truck in this catagory. Yeah, its a major project and my funds are limited. Anyways, I was looking at the hood and it seems kinda flimsy and in need of some reinforcing until I can afford to buy a new one. My question concerns those two slots cut into the hood between the parking lights? Can they be filled in and reinforced to make the hood a bit stiffer? Has that been done before? Were there any ill effects? Do those slots have anything to do with airflow over the engine and thereby effect cooling. Thanks for any advice. George Leonard

Re: Different Hoods

those slots do affect the airflow...
is your hood real rusty and weak?
I have not encountered a soilid one of these hoods that seemed flimsy.

chev/gmc

62-66 used the exact same main hood and braces.
the only difference is the lower front sheet metal that iss spot welded on around that seam.
