What impact do lowering blocks have on cargo capacity?

Re: Is there anyway to level my truck
I was thinking of lowering the rear of my 1970 too, how much of a drop do I need for it to be level with my front end, 3 in? My truck is all stock right now, just want to be the rear to be level with front.

Re: Is there anyway to level my truck
LMC illustrates that stock height 2wd trucks are 32in in the front and 34in in the rear when measured from the top of the wheel arc to level ground....so to answer your Q...you would need to drop the rear 2in to be level at 32in all around.

Re: Is there anyway to level my truck
Thanks for the help! Are these lowering kits easy to install? Or would I be better off just taking it somewhere to get done. I like price of the lowering kit, so it would be nice if I could do it myself.

Re: Is there anyway to level my truck
be sure to get lowering blocks for a 67-72 chevy truck if you have a trailing arm setup. The generic lowering blocks won't "fit" with trailing arms. It's a pretty simple project ut sometimes those ubolts don't want to come loose and may require cutting.

<edit> Are the axle tubes the same size on the C20? I'll see if I can grab a measure at lunch off another truck at lunch, but figures I'd ask. <edit2> Thanks Brad, I figured they might not work on trailing arms, but I'll check to make sure.

Re: Is there anyway to level my truck
The pinion shims are for "dialing-in" the pinion angle.
With a stock spring,... I would say no. Every truck is different.
