What did you spray on the inner step to keep nice looking?

My '59 is in the final stages of being painted and I'm guessing paint on the step won't look good for long. Is there something others have used that looks nice but is durable? Someone mentioned bed liner spray but I'm not so sure how that will look on a freshly painted truck.

Re: What did you spray on the inner step to keep nice looking?

I always used a piece of rubber floor mat cut to fit. I painted mine to match the interior but expect to be touching it up, at least the clear. I did do the metal etch and POR-15 on it under the finish paint.

I used that checker plate aluminum stuff and custom cut it to fit. I ran a small bead of clear silicon caulking around it to keep out any water from getting underneath.

I hate to revive a dead thread but I am contemplating buying these aluminum step plates to protect the step. Anyone use these or have an opinion? I don't really like the idea of drilling six holes.... may just put in floor mats...

$250??!! TWO HUNDRED-FIFTY DOLLARS??!! Really?

I'd much rather paint thay area body color then use some of those anti slip sand paper type strips they sell at Home Depot on the raised portion your shoe actually hits.

Linex says that they can color match to your paint, would that be an option?

When I had Line-X put in the bed of my Dually I asked about that and was told they could match it but the black would show through of you scratched it bad
