73 bed floor in a 72
question is can this be done? someone told me once is only requires some trimming at the wheel well. Has anyone tried this?

It's been a while since I heard this, but I think it involved more than just trimming the wheel wells. I was thinking that they had to graft the edge of the 72 floor to the 73 so it would bolt on. I'm not sure but I dont think that the 73 floor bolts on, I thought it was spotwelded to the bedsides, someone correct me if I am wrong here. And I know that the ribs in the floor are bigger on the 73 than the 72 also, don't really know if that would matter or not.

I wasthinking the same thing--- I have a 71blazer, and it would be real easy for me to find a chevy long box to cut up to fit (of any year really-- why not even the 88-99 models--these are dime a dozen) ....maybe make a template and spot weld in?
For me this would involve doing the whole bed floor-- so no worry of matching the ribs....just a thought? jon |

I know that it will not make any difference to most people, but the layout of the floor itself is different. I was looking for the correct levelling mats for my 1972 Blazer. These mats fit down in the grooves of the floor to make the carpet or top mat lay smooth. These are hard to find, so I got one from a 1973 Blazer and tried it out. The "ribs" and grooves on the floor are spaced differently. The 1973 mat would not fit into the grooves of the 1972 floor. I then took the 1973 mat and laid it into the bed of my 1978 GMC truck. It fit perfectly. Again, I am sure it will not matter to most. I just wanted to point this out.
