Looking for a really really nice set of door panel trim (not sure of the correct name) that goes around the wood or aluminum inserts.

67-72 interior, but 77-80 door panels?

I have a decent set as well, but likely not nice enough for the project. FWIW, there are two styles, one for panels with pull straps, and the other for panels without.

I would be interested in them if they aren't nice enough for HzEmall. I have a set and almost all of the plastic studs broke off when taking the panels apart.

Can you post some pictures of them? Do they have all the studs on them?

I know they are missing some of the studs, but not all of them.

I'm out of town for work until March 4th, but if you still are looking I will take some photos. Just PM me to remind me then.

Has anyone found a way to remove the speed nuts from the back of these without breaking the studs? I have tried to remove many of these and it seems the slightest pressure will twist the plastic studs. I have thought about trying to cut the speed nuts off, but then when you go to put the trim on the new panels the studs will just twist off then.

Same thing happened to me (I have 3 sets). Saw a post on here awhile back about fixing this problem. I plan on drilling out some of them and expoxing in some small bolts and remounting them. Problem solved

Even on original trucks with very low miles that have taken care of, the studs break off.

Because of the type and grade of plastic there made of, they will all was break unless you don't open and close your doors.

In solving this I always use in a number of spots a indoor/outdoor silicone/urethane
between the plastic door panel and the aluminum (78'-80') or wood grain trim (77') and then SMALL dabs in numerous places dead center on the back side of the chrome door trim you have pictured. You need to have the panel off and on a flat surface.

Tips:
- Be sure to clean the panel (behind where the trim goes too of course), trim and insert BEFORE doing this.

- Do NOT use a super strong silicone/urethane (Right Stuff, Liquid Nails, etc) because you'll have a Very hard time taking the trim apart (usually damage them) later if you need to and the regular indoor/outdoor silicone/urethane (eg. MONO Ultra) works great when full cured.

- Use clear silicone/urethane in case you can see a small speck between the panel and the trim when you look closely.

- I HIGHLY recommend using a "Water Clean Up" urethane because if you accidentally use too much you CAN quickly repair your mistake.

- Be sure to GENTLLY clamp the trim in place using LIGHT pressure and some clean, soft wood (balsa wood works great for clamping delicate trim), etc between the clamp and the trim, OR If you can't clamp it GENTLLY Hold down on the trim for a few minutes and then sit something that won't damage the trim on top till it cures.

You will find that when its done right you won't have trim moving ralling, flaping, or shifting around either and it holds perfectly in place. Also, you can never tell it has been done WHEN done correctly!
