a few junk yard parts

I made it to the junk yard today and picked up a few pieces. Got a nice hood ,no dents and straight very very little surface rust on underneath side around hood hinge 100 bucks . did i do okay ? I hope it will be better to use a original one in place of a new one ??? Got some brackets for steering column , radio delete plate some trim rings for trans trans case , nice shifter with knob . Got a inst. cluster with gauges pretty nice needles need painted . Any pics of restoring inst cluster out there like what paint on needles or can you add and more lights to it so it will be brighter ( just a thought ) on that ! My 72 i sold i wish the dash would of been brighter but it only had speedometer and fuel gauge ! Thanks for all your good posts and pics they all help

$100 for everything or the hood? Little high for just a hood but it really depends on the overall condition of it.

100 for just the hood . I couldnt find a single dent or rust hole in it anywhere . I was comparing 100 bucks to 399 from lmc plus shipping then the chance of having to rip the egdges off and re weld them on when it dont line up . I got about 50 bucks in the rest dash, column brackets, blazer door bumps (not sure if thats the correct term but keeps door from touching the tub when top is off ) gas fuel line cover and shifter . Hope thats not to bad

testors model paint for the needles. i saw it used on powerblock trucks on the 66 that they made into a shortbox. I think the color was safety red (very visable orangey red) they just held a piece of paper behind the needle and did it with a little brush.

Ive heard the radio delete plate is rare

Thanks for the heads up on the paint im going to town tomorrow and ill pike some up ! And the radio delete i saw a few post that had some for 35 bucks and up but i dont know if rare but i know a guy who owns a slavage yard and had three 1st gen blazers and about 50 67-72 trucks and its the only delete plate i could find ! I just wanted it cause i dont wanna cut my dash and want to mount a cd player in a console

I'm thinking the hood was a good deal. I've used aftermarket parts and now I wish I had fixed the originals.

$100 is a good deal. Any good body man will pick original steel over aftermarket any day. And that is with a dent or two.
