Re: 72 front clip to 68 clip

I thought it was weird you came up with nothing because this has been covered a ton of times. So I did a search and it kept coming up fatal error...weird.

Anyway, you need the entire front clip except the fender wells. I believe the bumper brackets are diff too. Now a GMC front clip is a different animal, if thats what you are talking about.

Re: 72 front clip to 68 clip

Easiest thing to do is remove the complete 72 clip and install a complete '68 front clip...and then bumpers and bumper brackets. That way you get the correct coresupport, etc...

Re: 72 front clip to 68 clip

hey mark, whats different about the gmc's? cause i'm gonna be swapping the front clip on my 72 with the front clip from a 67. i know the cores support, hood, and fenders are different. but what else? i know that i will have to swap the headlight buckets from my core support to the chevy core support, and get a different grill, but what else?

Re: 72 front clip to 68 clip

If he was doing a GMC arent all the fenders the same for 67-72? (cept the no marker holes on 67). Honestly though Im not up on GMC's at all. I couldnt tell the differences from the 69-72's and Im assuming the 67 and 68 have a sloped hood like the Chev's.

Re: 72 front clip to 68 clip

You may need new core support bushings to get it to sit right if the 68's are all dry rotted from age. Especially if the bushing are seized. Not sure if 68 n 72 are the same size. Someone should chime in with clarification for you.
