Wood bed fuel fill

I am starting the bed next week and I have already moved the fuel tank to the area behing the rear axle. I have seen pictures of various methods of filling the tank in the bed. I want to just put the fill in the wood area. But I have not been able to find a source to buy the cap and hardware.

Can anyone point me to some sources for the hardware from the tank through the wood and the cover plate.

This is a picture I took and I would like to do something similar except I would like to stay in the wood area away from the metal striips.

Re: Wood bed fuel fill

personally, I like the hidden approach. sorry couldn't past in a pic, but here's a link to a kit for the "the whole wooden plank rotates up so there is no visible cap" approach. I like it because it's invisible and also because this way I wouldn't be dripping gas all over my bed wood when I refill.

Here's just one example:

But almost any boating supply store will have stainless fuel doors like that.

Re: Wood bed fuel fill

I bought a fuel cap from a Buell and was going to mount that in my bed (looks like the one pictured). My VW had a Yamaha fuel cap and it worked out well. The Buell cap is 2 piece where my Yamaha was hinged.

My Buell cap was $4 on ebay.
