1972 4X4, Should I swap front clips?
I have a 68 parts truck I was thinking about putting the front clip on the 72 4x4 I just picked up and getting it painted to match. How do you guys thinks I did on the 72? I paid $4500. Please vote!
Here it is, 1972 C20 4x4. 350, Auto, leaf spring rear, power steering, power front disk brakes, locking front hubs, fairly solid rockers and doors, very complete and nearly everything works, nice unmolested truck. Had factory dual tanks but the rear one was removed. Also going to put my 2008 chev wheels on it. Little rust here surprisingly. New clip should fix that. Speakers look a bit tacky but they work well. At least he didnt cut up the door. Tailgate got bowed bad, going to put my other one on probably, it needs some work too though. Parts 68 |

I'm a fan of '68s though I think the '72 nose looks 'tougher' on a 4x4.
Nice trucks BTW. And hey! Wecome to the board from Seattle!! .

I tend to agree with the guys above. I always felt 71-72 is best on a 4x4, 68 on a 2wd street truck.

Re: 1972 4X4, Should I swap front clips?
I like to keep them as original as possable if I can. They are both nice trucks. I'd keep what you have and fix what rust you have. Less work and money involved, but thats just me. If you like the 68 front clip better, role with it. It's your truck, do what makes you happiest, either way it will still be a nice truck!
