Is there an electric choke for 69?
OEM has the bi-metal box mounted to the intake with the choke rod. The bottom of the intake manifold had a crack under the heat shield. I wanted to keep the original intake for #s sake and the machine shop said I could still use it providing I went with the propane style intake gaskets that eliminate the exhaust crossover. So I did. is there an electric choke set up that will work with the stock carb and bolt in place of the bi-metal box? Has anyone seen this?

Re: Is there an electric choke for 69?
They make block-off plates for the choke hole...some flat and some wedge shaped.
As I recall, most electric chokes mount to the carb rather than the intake. In my experience, many vintage carbs will not accept an electric choke. I'm running the old-style choke, for that reason, after finally finding a stock intake that wasn't cracked. Good luck on your quest. .

The stock Rochester 4bbl. I'm really reachin for an alternative to the choke without changing the carb. Finding an intake will be a challenge. Thanks for your input

Re: Is there an electric choke for 69?
You will need to either find a 74 and earlier BuickOldsPontiac carb and use the carb-mounted choke mechanism off it and convert to electric choke, or a 75 and later car carb (79 and later truck), which all had the choke coil mounted on the carb and convert to electric. The 75-80 models are your best bet, as they are better carbs.

Re: Is there an electric choke for 69?
I have a newer style carb and the airhorn is different on it. I didnt know putting a choke on the existing carb was an option. Nice, ok now I know what to hunt for. Thanks man, I'll dig into that!

Re: Is there an electric choke for 69?
Not all pre-74 BOP models had the choke coil mounted on the carb, but your more likely to find one than a Chevy model. All pre-74 Chevy Q-jets were divorced choke.
Your newer style carb, is it like the one on the left?

Re: Is there an electric choke for 69?
yes it is, and the choke rod lever bolts to the choke butterfly assembly rather than the old style where you have to thread it through and fight to hook it up

Re: Is there an electric choke for 69?
I have a stock spreadbore 4 barrel intake for free, just pay for shipping, (which probably won't be too cheap.)

Re: Is there an electric choke for 69?
I don't presently, maybe take some this afternoon. It's pretty filthy, needs a good soak in a parts washer, but no cracks or anything. I pulled it off when I put in an Edelbrock carb and intake.
