Just switched to LED's
So I just switched to LED's in the rear, both back-up lights and taillights. I had my bed removed for the longest time, and just put it back on today with the new tailights. I read that I needed a new flasher that was "updated" which I then bought. When I went to use it for the first time today, brake lights were fine, but turn signals didnt work. Put the old flasher back in, everything worked fine. What's the deal? Did I just buy cheap LED's or something?

Re: Just switched to LED's
I'd say that the led's are probably ok but the flasher you bought may have been suspect. The old flasher is probably a hd flasher that doesn't care if it has one or a dozen bulbs running through it and the front bulb has enough resistance to trigger it by it's self. If you had put LED lights in front too there might not be enough resistance to trigger that flasher.
Most of the oem flashers are set so that they need all of the bulbs in that side of the system to be working or they don't flash. Those are the ones that really need to be replaced when you switch to LED lights. |
