'72 LWB not a new build..but not done either...

Thought I'd post my build. I've been working on this for more than a year, but not posted anything. I'm posting the most recent activity to date and if anyone is interested I can post more. I just painted it with the help of my buddy over at Zeke's Garage. I did most of the prep work and Shawn did the paint. I was looking to get the truck one color and look nicer quickly. I need to save up for new NON rusty and mangled body panels. I'm not sure how I'll proceed with the cab yet. As such there are dents and irregularities due to doing this in a somewhat half-@ssed manner. Any faults are mine, Shawn did an amazing job with the paint.

This is the "finished" product...it was getting late and so we were hurrying a bit. The truck is not legal to drive. I still have to get exhaust and then re-register it, hence the trailer:

Again, please excuse the obvious rust and other issues...I was looking to get a decent cheap coat of paint on it. The body work is going to be another project. I just cleaned what I had as well as I could without investing a huge amount of time or money in the bodywork.

I'm not seeing a ton of rust or damage... looks good so far and under the hood looks even better. What kind of paint did you use?

I used John Deere Blitz Black. Its about $30 for a gallon along with a quart of thinner. Its designed to go directly over clean metal and be pretty tough. We did about 2 coats. For a quick and dirty paint job I highly recommend this stuff. I found out about it on this forum...just do a search for blitz black.

Talk about low buck.. we painted it with a $12 spray gun from Harbor Freight... The Blitz Black is the most forgiving paint I've ever worked with.

Unfortunately, what you can't see is all the hours of cleanup and paint done to the chassis, and the 4/5 drop kit he installed.

nice... i used that thin rustoleum bedliner. It went on pretty even and for a hundred bucks, i'd sand it off and buy the blitz or hot rod flatz if i didn't like it. It has the texture about like epoxy primer and looks sweet. I've seen some people trash their rides with that thick stuff, but this is awesome and it's rugged. Your truck looks great man. If mine fades or looks like crap after a few months i'll try the blitz next.

Here they are... really gives it kind of a rat rod look... It's still only a few weeks old. I will really know in a few months how it holds up, but it's easy to even out and it's durable.

Nice...I like that look. I need to get a regular chrome bumper on mine. I've got the chrome step/utility bumper it came with. I was going to try a hidden hitch too.
