what do you do with the afternoon off?

the shop closed down early today because the towtrucks on a run 100 miles away in boise and the boss has a drs appointment. so i go home and eat lunch when i see the ex walk by my house. whats the first thing i do? grab the 65 shorty i was building for her and start heading down the road. no tags or insurance and 3 feet of exhaust sticking out each side and creep up on her. when she looks up i just mash the petal and start grabbing gears. if you cant hear yourself think when its idling you can only imagine the decibals running at 5 grand. im smiling ear to ear as i pass her. nothing can beat the look on her face at that moment. juvenile? sure. but im still smilin like a 5 year old at his first rod run

Well my afternoon off wasn't as interesting. But nice weather and an old truck sure make a nice afternoon's project.

Old custom classic trucks have soul. Their dashboards aren't plastic, and they've survived both the best and worst of what the 20th century had to offer. For the owners of these trucks, it's often the same story. Through both good and bad times they persevered, until one day they could turn the key and roll up in a customized truck everyone with good taste would admire.Custom Classic Trucks

Re: what do you do with the afternoon off?

I took the 65 Shorty out for a spin after putting the carpet kit in it. I usually drive a 292 bored a little over with a 3 on the tree which is quick enough for the work commute, but the 350/350 throws me back in the seat. Long story short, I'm about to change tires so I took it to the empty parking lot of the local running track. Pretty nice flat and about 60 yrds long. Rolled in nice and slow. Idled it and bang, flattened the pedal to the metal, spun the tires for about fourty of the 60 yrds, then went to let off and the pedal stuck. There was a guy running the track and he almost **** his running shorts. LOL. As I did. It turns out, when I replaced the pedal, I set it a bit closer and the baffels on the back of the pedal caught the accel rod and hooked in.

Irish. now that sounds like a hell of a good run. wish i could have been there. the only time i ever got the throttle stuck was in the semi during corn season. i had to check my shorts after that one
