Heater Box Paint

I was wanting to clean up and paint my heater box that attaches to the fire wall, but I am unsure what the best product for this would be. Would a flat black be best, or is there a specific paint for these boxes.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Heater Box Paint

Why not just clean it up and spray it with some clear, with a low gloss?

I like that idea, but the box I have appears to be quite faded. I tried semi-gloss black on an old busted one I had and do not really like the look so I think the low gloss or flat would definantly be better.
Does anybody know if there is a vendor that carries reproductions of these?
