Tilt column
I am going to convert from 3spd. man. to th350, so I will be changing the column. I am thinking van tilt, is there any real advantage to go with an original truck tilt ,(not concerned about originality)
Thanks DR ![]()

Van tilts work great for our trucks, and when all said and done about 250.00 less cash out of the pocket.

Am I correct in assuming most vans would be automatics? I don't care about originality but I have a four speed manual so I don't want an auto tilt column.

Yukon Jack,
Vans are column automatics, at least all the ones I have seen. I am not sure if they made a stick van. We made a van auto into a tilt without the shifter on it by grinding off the the lumps on the shift bezel and filling with fiber glass. It takes some time but it turned out nice. On the turn signal bezel, we soldered in some thin brass to cover the shift indicator light hole. We used a bezel that was broken at the shifter so that we would not destroy a good usable one. I believe that GMCNorton has a bezel that is broken that he might let go if you wanted to try making a bezel for a tilt. Jim |
