Need help in settling a "bet"
Big betting stakes here......Breakfast at the place of my choice.
Here's what it's all about: My truck is a 3/4 ton, manual trans, and the e-brake is just to the right and behind the shifter. My buddy SWEARS that only the 1-ton trucks had the e-brake handles in that spot. I say no. By the VIN#, my truck decodes as a 3/4 ton. OK experts, the question needs to be answered. I'm getting hungry.

I saw one like that on this board right after I joind, seams that the person that owned it said that it was stock on 4 wheel drives. I think he was from Canada, maybe he will see this and coment.

Re: Need help in settling a "bet"
Here's a build started on a '63 C20 with the hand ebrake. 6th picture down shows the hand brake.

Re: Need help in settling a "bet"
All the C20's I've seen around here have the e-brake lever under the dash like the C10's. I haden't seen a C20 with the e-brake lever to the right of the shifter until I joined this forum. I had previously thought that was only C30's. I really don't know what determines where the lever is located.

Re: Need help in settling a "bet"
Wonder if this is like the fawn fire wall trucks ( production plant )because I have even seen 1/2 ton with a e=brake on the floor to the right of a 4 speed truck on the 1960 to 63 model.

Re: Need help in settling a "bet"
My '64 C20 originally had a 292 with a 4 speed and it had the e-brake next to the shifter with the e-brake assembly mounted on the back of the transmission....maybe only the trucks with the eaton rearend were done that way? I think someone owes you breakfast

Re: Need help in settling a "bet"
The blue one in my avatar, which i've since sold, was an orig. '66 C20 with
the granny low 4 spd. It had the e-brake under the dash like a C10.

Re: Need help in settling a "bet"
For what it's worth, my '66 C20 has the standard e-brake under the dash, and it came with an Eaton rear.
Interesting topic. I've never seen the e-brake through the floor. |

Re: Need help in settling a "bet"
Cable actuated parking brakes were new on 4spd C 20's in 1965. 1960 thru 1964 C 20 4spds used the parking brake drum.
