What are all these holes for?

Here is a pic of the firewall and it has been so long since I pulled this truck apart I don't remember what all the holes are for on the firewall. Here is a pic. I know the brake, column, fuse block, speedo holes, but thought this picture might help others as well.

Thanks Dubie that helps a lot.

Slammed...that is what I am trying to do to mine, but didn't want to cover up something too important.

Does this look right?

The few smaller holes are for screws and those rubber plugs for holding the mat in place on the inner firewall. Let me know if these are wrong. I had to do this in paint so it kinda messed with the colors.

That's great. I'm in the process of putting mine back together too, and it's great to have pics & diagrams to look at. Now, can somebody show me where everything else goes!

wow 71stepside, you've been busy! I haven't gotten a single thing done to my truck since I put it on the wheels. I just recently sold a 72 project truck to what sounds like a good future. A local man bought it to restore for his youngest son to drive exactly the future that great truck deserves.

Lookin good man, at this point I oculnd't tell you on the holes either lol

I have the same problem when I tear something apart. Takes time to get back too.

Since I use a Digital Camera alot anyway, I started using it as I work on something. Before, during, and reassembly. Saved my bacon many times.

Use it when working on my bike as well.

Nice work guys..............

There is one hole in the center of the fire wall for the heater I would not fill it in I think you need it for the Vintage Air kit too.I routed my washer hoses form the inside of the cab and through fire wall and into the cowel I dont know how to explain it though..
The other holes are for the insulation plugs. And one more there are two screw holes on either side of the steering coloum they are for a seal from the steering coloum to the firewall. I am going to weld studs in thoes holes the length of the original screws the put a nut on the inside.

Isn't the hole labeled "trans linkage" actualy for the clutch rod? Or is that what you meant?

Yes, that is what I meant by trans linkage...should be relabled I guess to clutch linkage.

This is a 71 cab and the holes and cabs do vary a little bit on the firewall I have found. Lost Wages' 68 cab has a few different holes so keep that in mind.

I don't seem to have many holes either! Admittedly, I welded in some I didn't mean to. Speedo, clutch linkage.
