Re: 292, 250 head question

The heads will interchange. The 292 has heavyer duty valves with rotaters on the ex. valves. If you are not going to use it for HD service it will work fine. Often by now a lot of parts like that have already been replaced with 230-250 parts because they are more available.

Yes. Being the same year they will have the same outlets. Somewhere in that era they put an opening in the head for the temp. gauge sender, but that can go in the therm. houseing if ness. Some had openings in the ex. ports for polution control air injection. They can or will be pluged. Watch the spark plug holes. The early ones like that used a long thread plug with flat seat. The later (about 70-71) used the late model short thread with tappered seats. Like I was saying often these parts have been juggled around through the years.
You can see the valve rotators on the 292 ex. valves. The 250 wont have them. The 292 have special HD ex. valves. The 292 has hard valve seat inserts. I'm not sure on the 250 till 71 up. Then they all had them. If you are not going to work it hard in a light duty truck, it will work fine.
