Vintage Battery?

As I get closer to finishing off the truck I've been meaning to ask this question. Does any company make vintage "looking" batteries? I found abattery topper from optima that fits thier brand of battries.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1953-...Q5fAccessories

A bit pricy for a plastic piece, but I's liek to go with athe whole battery if I could.

Any leads?

Re: Vintage Battery?

Correct repro batteries look great but they are not cheap, and I've been told they don't last that long either. If cost is a concern and you are just after the look, then I think you will spend far less in the long run on a fakey-do cover and a decent modern battery.

Re: Vintage Battery?

I find the toppers are the best route - quality battery and can't tell it from a tartop. However, with an optima's new-looking sixpack shape, seems the topper would look out of place (unless it covers the sides too). Personally, I'd buy a topper for a diehard, and a diehard, and save the optima for a car/truck that you don't mind it bein seen in.

I guess when you add all that up - it mayh cost as much as a new "modern" internal tartop lookin battery. There, I've helped you absolutely zero....

Re: Vintage Battery?

I agree with Jocko, and it's what I run in my 68 Camaro. A plastic topper on a sealed conventional battery. Half the price, all the look, and strong battery!

See: www.batterytoppers.com

Mine has fooled many many lookers, and has never been commented on by judges in several car shows. I rubbed mine with a fine scotchbrite to dull the finish and make it look more authentic.
