C-10 Air bag questions!!! HELP!!!!

I'm interested in getting the Ride Tech Level 1 Air ride Technology kit. I want to go simple and cost efficent. With the options to upgrade. No C-Notch and no fabs to the bed and inner fenders. I want to go with 22"s.They advertise that it's possible. is this true. Any suggestion on installation and switching out the front springs. I heard that it's very dangerous. Here's the kit I want to get ...

Re: C-10 Air bag questions!!! HELP!!!!

You can do it but how low you trying to go. 22"s are big, so your gonna be way up off the ground.

Im going with 20s and Ill be layed out with a Porterbuilt Set up....but that's no fenderwells.

2.5 in the front with 4 in the back for driving. I want to keep my fenders in tack. I heard that the airbags is a much better drive. I'm not trying to slam it.

Re: C-10 Air bag questions!!! HELP!!!!

No air ride.
Just a set of drop sprindles and springs.

Tell us more about your truck.
What year?
What mods have been done already?
Got any pics?
Budget?

A static drop can be very fun to drive.
Add sway bars if you don't already have them.

Well i actually already have the drop springs(2.5 front,4 back). I got them a long time ago before I was turned on to airbag concepts. It's a 1967 Chevy SWB. I'm in the process of purchasing a full disc brake conversion to 5 lug. I want 22 inch rims but I'm concerned about rubbing. Here is a thread of my build. Here are the rims I'm getting SOON!!

If you are considering installing air bags,... I wouldn't buy any wheels until the bags are installed so you can measure for proper clearances.
The RideTech kit is a quality product.
We have several board supporting vendors that sell RideTech kits.
Check out the Suspension Marketplace.

Thanks Keith. I think I'm going to go with the Static Ride. Will the 22's work?? I figure i'll get the sways and the lower shocks and save me cap room to finish it up seeing that I already have the drop springs.

Re: C-10 Air bag questions!!! HELP!!!!

It really depends on what height tire you want on the wheel, and how low you want to go. I understand that you don't want to cut your bed or inner fenders. With those limitations combined with a tall tire, you might not need the air suspension.

If you plan 22's or 20/22's low profile tires, the air suspension system you have pictured would be a nice addition.

Thanks N2!!! It ould just make more sense to spend the money on my rims since I already have the springs. i'm going 22 all around. maybe 9.5 in deep in the back, with 10 deep front. Just not 100% sure on the rub. I most defintely will get low profile tires. Doing some research to see about fit.

Re: C-10 Air bag questions!!! HELP!!!!

22x8.5 up front and 22x10 in back would be the max.
I like a 40 series tire.
265/40 and 285/40 with those rim sizes.
Some people run a 35 series tire to keep down on the overall tire height.

thanks i'd have to see the differencein 40-35 tires. I'd love to have some meat on my tires for better ride but, I really want the extra lowering from the 35 tire. I want to thank you guys so much!!!!!

Re: C-10 Air bag questions!!! HELP!!!!

A fellow Owasso board member here, I've got a 69' with 5 lug disk brake conversion, 2.5"/4" drop. Drop spindles with stock springs in front and 4" springs in rear running 20" wheels (I will have to check tire size). My tires rub the front inner fenders only in extreme situations. I think lower profile or a better offset could help. A little different set up than yours but close to what your trying to achieve.

Re: C-10 Air bag questions!!! HELP!!!!

I agree that a 40 series is much better for ride, and I like the looks too. Orangetonicclicc while researching the difference between 35 and 40 series tires try to look at pics or the actual tire to get an idea. What I have found is that all tires are not true to their listed size. If you compare several 35 series tires, in the same sizes, the sidewall can be significantly different from one to another.

Re: C-10 Air bag questions!!! HELP!!!!

I want to do the same as Orangetonicclicc (it's been awhile man!!) with 22" rims and at least a 2/4 or 3/5 at most Static drop. I want to know if a 35 or 40 series tire would work also without rubbing on the original inner fender, no mods to bed, etc. someone pleae help lol

Re: C-10 Air bag questions!!! HELP!!!!

The series sidewall is related to the width of the tire. That 35 or 40 is a percentage of the width, so a 285/40 will have a taller sidewall than a 255/40.

The 40's series are tall tires and great for a mild drop. They could rub if going up a driveway turning where the suspension flexes, but in general they should be Ok if you're not too low. The backspacing (offset) of the wheels also make a difference.

To not over complicate it, the 40 series, I think would be good for the drop you mentioned. Although might rub occasionally in certain situations, for everyday driving, it would be Ok.
