Re: WHat did you get done 2/27/11 edition
Considering I am 7,164 miles from my truck in Afghanistan, I didn't get much done to my truck. Although I have managed to find the wheels that I really want and how I would like to build my truck. We did do some truck related work though. We have a Afghan Ford Ranger w/a little turbo diesel in it. We freed up the wastegate, put a new filter on it and took the exhaust off of it. So now we have the sweetest sounding puddle jumper on the base.

Re: WHat did you get done 2/27/11 edition
Didnt get anything truck related done today. Made up for my day off by pulling a 12 hour shift out of nothing. Would rather have kept working on the engine refresh project, and watched Nascar. But I guess I'll take the money and buy some more parts for the old truck next week!

Got my new MSD Pro Billet Distributor put in, MSD Coil, and the MSD AL6 in, although I didn't get everything wired, it won't take much to finish it.

Re: WHat did you get done 2/27/11 edition
Got new spark plug wires and a tach in my '88 finally haha! Helped my body put new leaf springs on his late 90's jeep. Moved my '95 to my buddies to drop the rear end out of it that I blew up this last week. Other then that just hung out with friends and family

Set the bed on my 50 so I can figure out the brackets/mounts. Sadly, pieces of 2X4 and 4X4 don't qualify as secure mounting. I also played around with the running boards, yes, and more wood.

Re: WHat did you get done 2/27/11 edition
Watched my daughter's last cheer competition of the year. 7th out of 12 but the first time they've been to regionals in 15 years. She competed despite the stomach flu and heaving twice before they went on. Then watched her turn 16 on Sunday!
Did get the first stage of my WMO processor set up. Crawled under the diesel and confirmed a broken crank pulley, now all I have to do is find the right socket to get the stinkin' PS bolt loose and then I should be able to change it. Unfortunately there is a big puddle of coolant on the ground and dripping off the pan, gotta find out where that's coming from. At least it doesn't seem to be going into the motor.

Picked up my short bed frame for the next project and sprayed a few things in my backyard spray both. Took the kids outside to play. Went to the World of Wheels show in St Paul Saturday, got a bunch of parts sandblasted and painted, did our taxes, and just hung out with the kids and wife.

Re: WHat did you get done 2/27/11 edition
I started to remove the transmission from the parts suburban on Saturday but didn't get quite finished. I also got some of the Duplicolor black chrome kit and tested it on an older chrome air cleaner. I didn't like the results, looks really blue to me.

Re: WHat did you get done 2/27/11 edition
Fri I filled the '78 up with branches and sticks that fell out of my trees into the yard over the winter. Still havent made it to the dump with them....
Sat I put a different bumper cover, passenger fender and door on my Daily Driver Firebird. Dont want to say newer, b/c they came off a 96 and my car is a 97. I'm not sure how happy I am with this since the '96 car was victory red and my car has been repainted just a generic red sometime. Dosent match up at all. The victory red has waaayy more orange in it... Sun I spent swapping regulators and glass in the pass side. Adjusted both the pass and dr windows. I wound up removing the dr side and lubing it real well also. I thought I was going to have to buy new motors but they almost work like new ones now. We will see how long that lasts.

Re: WHat did you get done 2/27/11 edition
I picked up a '67 CST 20 2wd. I am contemplating parting it out and using the engine in my '77....I dont know why 'cuz the '67 has no rust and runs good. Guess it's just 'cuz I am not a fan of that body style????? Heck it even has buddy buckets! decisions,decisions......oh the drama!

On the 27th I helped my Father put a transmission in a Saturn vue. I also tried pulled the steering arm off a dana 44 for my truck. That went eh... Gonna have to go back with a bigger hammer.

Re: WHat did you get done 2/27/11 edition
Well things didn't really go too well. I tried putting my truck up on ramps and with the rear axle perched not weled on yet I did flip the rear end. No real damage so I just realligned it and tightened it down again. Did some more grinding on my lower control arms so they would not rub the 15x8 rallys. I think I have that accomplished but now the 255-60 tire rubs the control arm on full turns. So I put that down for some more thought. I Sand blasted my 1.125" sway bar, and yes lost a litttle control there too. It slipped away from my grip and fell on my shinn and put a big knot on my leg. Good thing I had a dust mask to muffle the explatives. My wife liked that

Re: WHat did you get done 2/27/11 edition
Thats kinda what I am thinking too. I just posted pics of in the 67-72 forum....
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=450127 My concerns are the '67 has $599 owed in back tags. The "77 is non-op'd, just needs an engine. Both are fairly straight w/NO rust. The '77 will have to be smogged-the '67,no. The '77 has A/C (for the kids),disc brakes, power steering,14blt,new exhaust, the '67,no except for the power steering,it has power 'assist'. I have thought about taking the engine out of the '67 and putting it in the '77 and be back on the road within the weekend....TOO many options. Need opinions......

Re: WHat did you get done 2/27/11 edition
Got the front clip pulled in order to pull the motor in the garage. The truck is 23 foot long and the garage is 25 foot deep. So, the only way to pull the motor with the garage door down is from the side.
