Silly Little Bed Question "Wide Bed's"

I looked in the FAQ'S section and looked around for the answer to my question.

Whats this I see about "wide" beds? I see people posting their short wide's or long wides.....

I always thought my 66 lwb had a wide bed on it but did chevrolet actually made a wider bed then what was standard? If so does that mean the cab is wider too...

Thanks guys for any info on this subject. I have to say I really dig this site and am spending up to 2+ hours a day reading and learning.

Wide beds = Fleetside.
LWB= Long wheel base.
SWB= Short wheel base.

Re: Silly Little Bed Question "Wide Bed's"

In addition to Slowbuild's response,

SWB= Short Wide Bed
LWB= Long Wide Bed

It depends on who you ask and what you ask as far as what it stands for really.

Re: Silly Little Bed Question "Wide Bed's"

That's why I hate acronyms. I was at a meeting for work a couple years back that they used so many acronyms that nobody knew what the heck the meeting was about.

Re: Silly Little Bed Question "Wide Bed's"

Welcome to the sickness.

All of the acronyms can get confusing, and the meanings vary from person to person sometimes.

Re: Silly Little Bed Question "Wide Bed's"

LOL yeah I know what you mean. I'm Army as well.

It's kinda like how BNOC, WLC, and PLDC are pretty much all the same thing or how people use MICH, K-pot, or ACH interchangeably. IOTV's are also IBA's and FLC's are also LBE's

I have given up and will just give the "huh wut?" look if I have no idea what someone is talking about.

Actually WLC & PLDC are the same BNCOC & ALC are the same and ANCOC & SLC are the same. However the POIs may have had several FRAGOs but the MOI, TLOs and ELOs are pretty much same. In the end it all goes back to OJT being the best way to learn. Just like PT has changed to SPT with the new CD1, CD2, CD3, MMDs, and HDs just to get you to have a better APFT score. I could go on all day long.

Exactly...and to think some people want government run health care. We have it already, and I go to civilian doctors because it's worth it.

but to bring this thread back on trick

BBW = big back window
SBW = small back window

...lets just say the first time I saw BBW I started laughing....and I sometimes still can't help but snicker at it.

Re: Silly Little Bed Question "Wide Bed's"

I may be incorrect, but I think "Wideside" is GMC terminology for "Fleetside" and "Fenderside" is the same for "Stepside." (at least that's what I was told)

I've always heard SWB as short wheel base an generally speaking people follow that saying fleet/step side/wide side/fender side.

if SWB means Short Wide Bed does that mean SSB would mean Short Step Bed?

oh yeah and we've got SBC/SB and BBC/BB for engines

Re: Silly Little Bed Question "Wide Bed's"

haha! I love this thread. I have heard the terms swb and lwb for years, but always knew them as short wheel base and long wheel base. That all changed when I started visiting this site last year. The S and the L seem to be the only thing everyone agrees on. Thank god I don't have a step side!
