Thumbs down Chevy Duty = Awful

I don't know if you guys have had better luck, but here's my story:

Placed an order 2/26. They said they needed my old pressure plate as a "core". Wouldn't let me pay the $10 core charge and just send me another plate, so it cost me $25 to send in the p/p. I don't hear anything for a month. I call today, and they inform me that their order system is screwed up, and that they need my clutch disk as a core, too (they previously said these items would be new, so they didn't need a core to rebuild). So now, I have to send my old disk in so they can rebuild it, and wait another two weeks to get my order.

Don't do business with these yahoos. I never will again.

I bought an Inner Grille that was listed as a NOS part from them but when I received it it looked more like a poor quality repro. I have bought a couple other things from them and was happy with them.

Ive bought almost $2000.00 worth of parts from Chevy Duty since November of last year. I have never had a problem with their shipping or quality.

I've had a couple of order problems - nothing serious. Some of the parts were not the quality I would wish for, but not really any worse than others I've ordered from.

I have bought a lot from them, and everything has been great. Had some stainless sill plates backordered one time, but they told me up front they couldn't give me an exact ship date. But I have to admit that since I found this board, I started using GMCPaul. Nothing against Wes, David, or anyone else, Paul happens to be the closest to me and has helped me over the phone with some questions I have had, and you can't get that kind of service from the bigger operations or their phone operators.

I use to buy alot from them until I started getting imported junk like their arm rest for a 72 Chyanne. I since than switched to Early Classic Enterprise and have been very happy.

I would respect these vendors alot more if they would a least give us a heads up when the only parts avalible are junk. Like "You ordered front brake hoses from us but the only ones we have are stamped made in Japan
all over and arn't neary as good as the originals".

I tried getting a door patch panel from Early Classic and they were honest to say that there was not a quality one out there. Most other vendors would sell you anything they had.

I ordered from them and had no problem. If they wouldnt let you pay the core charge I would have just told them to cancel the order and that you will shop elewhere. plenty of others to shop from.

if you go to your regular auto parts store and ask for brake hoses for a 1970 impala with disc brakes they are the same as brake hoses for a 71 and 72 chevy truck

I've ordered from them many times with no trouble. I've gotten patch panels and bushings and stuff from them. Things like trim and grill pieces I would want to inspect before buying.

We haven't had any trouble with them and everything we ordered had been really good. I figure for things like a clutch or big stuff just tak eit to NAPA or a parts store in town to save shipping and packaging the stuff. They always have had the stuff I needed and haven't had any trouble ,yet.

I was just at Chevy Duty last Thursday. All I can say is that place is awesome. The showroom is huge and has two trucks on display in it. One is a 69 or 70 I think Jimmy that had been restored. The other is I think a black 85ish Chev short box 4x4, the thing is brand new, the stickers are still on the windows from the factory, even the plastic is still covering the seat. The thing only has 89 miles on it. Yah so maybe they have too much money. You can see into their shipping area and they got a 2 or 3 guys just boxing stuff up to be shipped and a ton on boxes ready to go out. The sales guy I got wasnt the most knowledgable about 67-72s but he was ok. The building looks like it is brand new and has got to be worth a couple million dollars!!!!!

Take the time to write them a letter. Give them a chance to make it right. Most problems I have had have been cleared up this way. If they don't respond all you are out is a letter. I was screwed by "The Paddock". They never responded to me in any way. I quit buying from them completely. My only experience with Chevy Duty was good one. I quit "Harmon's" because of a rude phone person. There are lots of suppliers out there. I go to the ones that treat me right.
