1963 GMC Wheel Studs
Apparently my grandpa had the rear end changed in the truck at some point. I'm not sure what year it is or what truck it came off of. The problem is that it use's a larger diameter knurled portion than the stock front end. I'm having a hell of a time finding these studs locally, not at Napa, Advance Auto, Oreilly's or Auto Zone. My caliper is listing the diameter of the knurled portion at .543" with a 7/16-20 bolt and a 1.5" overall length. Not only am I not having luck with the size of the knurled portion, the length is a challenge too. I need 1.75" at a minimum to get the bite that I need for my new wheels. Know of anything that will work or can be substituted rather than bore the holes out and use the larger stud. Dorman makes one that is 1 7/16" long with a .555" knurled portion but that's the closest that I am seeing that would work.

Their dashboards aren't plastic, and they've survived both the best and worst of what the 20th century had to offer. For the owners of these trucks, it's often the same story. Through both good and bad times they persevered, until one day they could turn the key and roll up in a customized truck everyone with good taste would admire. – Custom Classic Trucks |
