Re: lifting 1 2wd 1980 chevy big ten ?

No busting going on here buddy.. there are quite a few of us that have done or have wanted to do this.

Here is the thread with the best way to lift these body style trucks using off the shelf parts.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=447061
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=442205

There are few options out there for the 73-87 body style.. My 82 has/had 1 ton coils that leveled the front to the rear and allowed me to run 32"s with only very minor rubbing. You other options are lift coils and/or coil spacers which due to the design of the front suspension removes any droop in the suspension travel. Or 88-98 lift spindles.. there use to be a few 73-87 lift spindles on the market but it has been awhile.

could be the same reason we lower them.....just looks cool. Nothing wrong with a lifted 2wd. Maybe he likes lifted trucks and does not need 4wd.....

Re: lifting 1 2wd 1980 chevy big ten ?

Ya I know they will bust on you and ya 4by would be nice but I live in the desert and I love my truck but I need ground clearance and a traction aide to keep up with the yotas I wanted a fabtech kit I called them and discontinued stupid right ill look at the links and see what I can do the 1 ton stuff is too stiff my truck rides nice in the front but the rear is the big ten stuff so a lil stiff but I just want something close to the original spring rate or softer. So I can't hit the ruts and wash boards at a decent speed and maybe some of the soft stuff as of right now I can't pull off the hard packed or slightly loose stuff i handle mud like a madman

Re: lifting 1 2wd 1980 chevy big ten ?

yes its Justin's truck click on the link before the first pic and it will give you a parts list and the lower control arm drop down brackets from 7.5" kit would probably take some fabrication to work since the frames are different but I'm not for sure I'm the kind of guy that lowers a truck 7.5"

Rixjohnson. What kind of lift you got on your C20. That's the same height I'm looking to acheive

Re: lifting 1 2wd 1980 chevy big ten ?

I think these two wheel drives look great with a little lift on them. For as much as I need my 4wd if I bought another truck I would get a c20 and lift it a bit. Looks good!

Re: lifting 1 2wd 1980 chevy big ten ?

Here's another thread
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=469743

I want to lift my 2wd burb just for more clearance. Slowly collecting parts. I tossed around the idea to swap to 4wd. For what I use it for I don't really need 4wd. It gets me everywhere I need it to go and I think it's going to be better on fuel being 2wd cause mine gets around 17mpg now.
