I took it to Ramirez Upholstery 909 874-5388-located in Rialto

Jesse is a real nice guy and I like his work.

Thanks for the compliments!

You wouldn't happen to know how he charges? Hourly, piece work, or if they quote a job as a project?

Being that I have 3 bench seats, and need the covers made from scratch. The quotes I have gotten so far, have been way out of my budget.

I plan to supply all the vinyl and cloth as well.

Re: replaced my old bench seat for buddy buckets today

Looks good. When you get your carpet in you most likely want something to cover the ugly internal tank also. You can use a fiber board covered in carpet or the same material your seats are.

Jesse just gave me a price for the whole job-$550.00 and that included repainting the frame-without repainting the frame, the price would be $150.00 less or $400.00!! When I looked at covers, they were like $380 and I would still have someone put it all together. Jesse's price included all new foam and he painted the springs the foam sits on. very clean work IMO.

Re: replaced my old bench seat for buddy buckets today

Hmmm I will have to give the guy a call and see what he says about my situation.

Did you supply pre made covers, or did he make those from scratch?

550.00 isn't bad at all considering all the extra work in doing a bucket set up like yours.

Wondering what he'd charge for a bench...

550.00 x 3 = 1,650.00 give or take.

Plus another 1,500 to 2 grand for material.

getting in the hood of of 4 grand for me, so you can see where I stand

I will get in touch with him to see if he can work with me on what I want, and maybe come to some sort of number that works good for the both of us.

Re: replaced my old bench seat for buddy buckets today

Just got mine done and installed in my '72. Victor at V&J Upholstery in Vista Ca. 760-598-4168. I supplied the black Tweed and he did them for me in return for a referral on a high end leather job on a high dollar '66 Chevelle. Victor and I go way back and he has done countless interiors for me. He also did my tank cover and kick panels/door bottoms some years ago on this truck.

He did everything from scratch-no pre-formed stuff. He used what was left of my old covers for a pattern and the old seat forms to make new seat foams. I went across the street to J&j auto frabics and picked out the material for the seats. J&J has almost everything you need to to do your entire interior including window channels and such-great people.

I am a perfectionist to a fault.
So I am using OEM fabric, and the correct color vinyl.

If I have to pay a higher price to be right - then so be it.
