Help with drag motor

Ok guys im going to race a buddys camaro if I can come up with a motor sooo, here's what we have 355 forged 5.7 rods, flattop pistons four valve reliefs, scat 9000 crank. 9.025 deck, hurricane intake. The car is a 74 camaro with fiber, doors and hood cage, gutted interior, 5.13 gear and 26" tires. Glide tranny and maybe 26-3200 convertor. I'm planning on running his 64cc chamber protopline 200cc runner heads with 2.05-1.6 valves also.

SO I need a cam non roller?
Carb recommendation
Tire recommendations for 8" wheel (stock wheel well)
Should I run head gasket shims to get comp up more?
1/8th mile track leaving on a trans brake.

Re: Help with drag motor

Can't it's what we have. I'm doing the motor on a minimal budget. Heads ran great in a heavy truck so they should run like a scalded dog on the camaro. This is a race only car btw.

Re: Help with drag motor

Protopline got bought out by rhs. These heads r my buddies but 2.05-1.60 valves 200cc intake runners and 64 cc heart shaped combustion chamber is all I know about them.I am also wondering why to rethink the heads? These should easily support our needs without being to big.

Re: Help with drag motor

i know they bought out rhs.... but the first set the company made in aulstraila were the best mine. after they stopped making them they were chinesse made thats when they got their bad name. no way to tell if you have their first set or the chinesse set. mine are 72 cc an 200 but im running a victor jr manifold but the best manifold to run with protopline is the super victor manifold

Re: Help with drag motor

I was going to run a victor Jr cause that's what we have laying around and I think I found a cam! Solid .546/.565 if I get new pistons to get compression where I want it but I don't know yet depends on the price and if I can get a few good side jobs to pay for it...
