Im Gonna Blow You... Away..... With My Paint.... Pearl & Candy Same Technique?

ha, well, im bout to send my truck off this weekend for paint. i've included some pics (the inspiration for the design i stole from this site, but i dont know from whom) the green/green is the one i found on this site a while back

Anyway, the guy im taking it to paints a lot of race cars, and some other older cars. he said he paints a lot of pearls, and feels comfortable doing a candy paint for the first time on mine. i believe he has painted many dozzens of cars, he is 25 and youthful, but since i dont know the similarities between pearl and candy, i dont know for certian that he will be in his comfort zone when it comes to laying down a candy. are the 2 that similar in painting technique?

I want to do the dark grey a metalic, and the green a candy, maybe a tad darker than the green ive used here.

That looks sexy, love that bottom pic and I'm not even a huge stepper fan. Damn it looks good.

If you are going with a candy colour especially a light on make damn sure that you prep work is as close to perfect as humanly possible and then do it again becuase candies show every flaw.

I have only sprayed one car in candy and I consider myself pretty a thorough person and I have flaws that I never saw when I prepped it.

holy crap, those are beautiful vehicles! I think ive changed my mind about the candys, I dont think the guy i had in mind has the capability to get it perfect for the price, sooo im probably going to end up doing a metallic. the thing is, i want to have as much depth, and glimmer as i can. can this be achieved using a metalic base + metal flake, adding a pearl, then clear coating?

if i could take it back or do it again i think id do a nice pearl... or maybe just do a new paintjob 2010 camaro green?the color i went with isnt the color i really wanted the painter i had paint it put like 3 shades more of candy then i wanted so. he's going to re paint it the way i want it and not the way he wants it. lol but i figure put it together get the scratches out of it now then in about 9 months re paint it i did base coat house of color planet green and then candy paint house of color pegan gold.. uhm 8 stage paint job minus the clear

this is snakeskin green from a viper, uses a limited edition gold base in the mix.. it is a transparent base, so it took about 4 coats to cover.. PPg base usually covers in 2 coats, so it has lots of depth..
