from a LWB to a SWB? I'm getting ready to do this & thought I would check around for any suggestions or afterthoughts from someone that's done this.

Tell you what, if your floor is in good shape I'll give you my lwb floor if you give me yours. The rust fairy has already done most of the removal for you already!

Hhmmmm . . . I'll be practicing my welding skills (since I don't weld very often) & I think it would be harder to weld to metal that isn't there

Scotti, are you shortening your LWB to SWB ? Do you need to shorten the bed sides also? Sounds like a lot of work... wouldn't it be easier to just get a SWB bed to start with?? You could trade, or sell your LWB to get a SWB.

Of course I can't remember it now, but on here recently I seen a post or link to a site where somebody did this. I remember because there was a pic of the bedsides cut down but the floor was still sticking out. Dang - who was that......

I'm just switching from wood to steel. I got a long steel floor for free & just have to cut it down to short specs. I've already measured out the cuts, but one of the things I learned already is that LWB floors have an extra support toward the rear of the floor that shorts don't have (using my 67's steel floor as a guide).

I thought maybe someone has done this & when they got done realized maybe they should have done something differently to make the job easier. I might even kick the floor up w/the extra material left over.

if it helps go pick up the new copy of CCT ( Custom Classic Trucks )they have a tech article on how to shorten a longbed chassis in order to make it a shorty

I am going to do this Cause I can't find a shorty floor for my shorty sides any info would be helpful. How much do I have to cut and where ? I could figure it out but the help would be nice.
