Spray in liner / Carpet or rubber mats
I'm trying to figure out if I want to do a spray in liner, paint everything to match and then put in rubber mats or just put the insulation with carpet over the top of it. I'm not going to use it for hard four wheeling, but it's not gonna be a show car either. Right now it's a cruiser for my Wednesday golf and weekends at the lake. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Re: Spray in liner / Carpet or rubber mats
I'm going to do spray-in liner in the whole tub, then carpet over it in just the front area. Your use sounds similar to the intended purpose of mine. I want it to be comfortable enough to really enjoy spending time in it, but not too nice to get it dirty on the weekends. I figure the carpet can always be cleaned and dried out, as long as I don't leave it super dirty or wet for too long.

Re: Spray in liner / Carpet or rubber mats
Wow....our Blazers must be sisters. Are those 33X12.5's on stock rims and suspension on yours? I've been wondering what my Blazer would look like with those and if that's what's on there I won't have to wonder anymore.
You should tint your windows....I've been wondering what that would look like as well. |

Re: Spray in liner / Carpet or rubber mats
im about to line-x spray mine, its sprayed at i think around 180 degrees and its very durable and rust resistant. much better than the do it yourself liner. it will be my daily driver when im finished so im gonna put snap-in carpet in it where i can easily take it out and hose down the inside if theres any mess.

If you decide to do a bed liner in the back, don't use the do-it-at-home stuff. It is really sharp and has a shine to it I don't like. I would go with line-x if you decide to go that route.

Re: Spray in liner / Carpet or rubber mats
Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like Line X is pretty popular. Does anyone have any idea on the cost?
Also yes, those are 33 x 12.5 tires on stock rims. But I'm looking forward to a 4" lift. |

Re: Spray in liner / Carpet or rubber mats
I just got done spraying the inside of mine with ALs Liner. I did the whole tub, and the engine side of the firewall as well. I am into mine $340.00. I tinted it the same as what the body color is going to be. I did the same thing with my 67' and it makes a heck of a difference.
All the spray-in places wanted $600-900 to do the whole tub, and that wasnt including the firewall.

If you do some research, you will find out that Linex is the best, but I guess its not the cheapest. If you want it to stay though, go Linex. I have it in the back of my Duramax GMC. |

Re: Spray in liner / Carpet or rubber mats
I did linex in the back of my Silverado and my buddy did his Ranger Pickup also. Awesome stuff. I know my in my buddies Ranger it came up in the tailgate but they redid it at no charge. VERY TOUGH STUFF!

Re: Spray in liner / Carpet or rubber mats
If you ever plan on selling your blazer you might not want to linex the inside. This might not detour everyone, but I passed on a few blazer just because they had spray on liner installed. That stuff scares me. Who knows whats underneath. If you do decide to spray it, I would a least take pictures of what it looked like before you covered it up.

I would think that the bedliner is going to help prevent most rust from forming. I have not really abused my ALs liner so im not sure on the toughness. I do know linex is hard as a rock. The price tag steered me way away from it though. If you are going to throw carpet over it then I wouldnt even think twice and go with the ALs for the cost alone.

Re: Spray in liner / Carpet or rubber mats
This debate could go on forever, spray in liners do cover up alot, so does body filler, primer and paint. You can crawl under my rig and see all of the patches/welds in my bed floor. But you cant see the patches on the bed sides. I think all of the post on this subject have legitimate points, its all about what you want, good luck

Re: Spray in liner / Carpet or rubber mats
I did a frame off on mine and lined the inside tub. I think it works great. Quiets the cab, seals it from exhuast leaks, and stops the carpet from moving. I have before and after pics of the metal so if anyone has any questions about the integrity of the metal.
