New guy Meridian, ID

I'm new to this forum, bought back my '66 Chevy SWB project truck about 6 months ago. Owned the truck 10 year prior, but life and money got in the way. Knew where the truck went and the 3 owners it had in the mean time. Now I'm in the process of making it mine again and un-doing some of the not so good upgrades!
I'm looking for an A/C setup for this truck, was originally and A/C truck, but someone took most of the pieces. I need the Center A/C vents and then the under dash stuff. I have most of the controls, but not of the wiring.
Hoping to get it running soon, the cam went flat about a month after getting it back, turns out the previous owner didn't break the cam in correctly and had a tach that wasn't accurate!

Would be great to meet some local Treasure Valley people!

Welcome!! I would recommend you do some research on "oil" since most engines run roller cams and catalytic converters the oil companies have greatly reduced the ZDDP zink and phosphorus in the oils of today because they claim it plugs the cats. There is a member here on the board that has some very good info on this unfortunately cant recall his name but a search of the site and a look in the FAQ section should turn up what youre after.

Re: New guy Meridian, ID

Welcome Tim!!

We have had a couple of "forum member" breakfast BS sessions, and are tentatively planning another in June.

There used to be an Idaho section, now we are lumped into the Northwest section. The more the merrier!! Most of us at the breakfasts were 60-66 owners, but there were a couple of others there as well. Old trucks are old trucks right!!

Nice looking Burb! Does it have the barn doors by chance? I had one this year that went the mountain home way.
Been doing a lot of research on oils and have found a few with the ZDDP in it still. Will probably try the Valvoline VR1 Racing oil, it is still a conventional oil, so will be good for the 2nd oil change. I will probably use the Comp Cam Break-In oil to fire the motor.
We just got done stuffing a 454 in my dad's '72 Burb, and so far everything seems to be happy. Cam is broke in and we have about 700 miles on it now, so I think we are out of the woods on it now.
