Whats it worth?
1971 Cheyenne 2wd longbed. My grandpa bought new in 71 and has been in the family since but its time to let it go. I need the money to build my 72 K10. I went through the chassis 5 yrs ago and did all new rubber (trailing arms, track bar, cab bushings etc), new coil springs front and rear, added a factory sway bar, new shocks, brakes, bearings, basically full chassis rebuild. New 2 1/4 exhaust , Engine is stock out of my 72 K10. Has good compression and runs strong (lowest cylinder is 120 lbs). Has one lifter not pumping up (truck sat for 8 yrs) and smokes til warm up. It has a 4 spd manual trans rebuilt, newer clutch, and rear cab supports replaced. Cab corners are gone (replacements included) and needs outer rockers and front cab supports done (included). Seat is in horrible shape, mismatched doors, needs all new body filler ( a day of work). Front clip and bed are in excellent shape. I have door panels in descent shape and headliner in good shape, good chrome front bumper (off a 68) Cab is rough but fixable. Its a good truck and hate to see it go but would like to get back some of my investment.
What do you think? Thanks

Re: Whats it worth?
If it's not the most presentable then you wont get the most bang for your buck. Put the bumper back on, maybe do the cab corners if you can weld and spray the whole truck in flat black. It's look a lot better and be easier to sell for a an extra day of work.
I see a lot of trucks that are partially done and mis-matched of paint. They take forever to sell up here and the prices keep dropping on them. They don't scare of true truck guys but it scares off a lot of people just getting into this hobby as they view it as ugly and/or more work than they want to do immediately to make it a good driver. $1500-3000 depending on what you fix on it and how nice you make it and the market you're in.

Re: Whats it worth?
As it sits $1,000. There is nothing special that induces a higher price. It's a plan old long bed 2wd which are pretty easy to find.
The body looks fairly straight but has rust issues. The panels are mismatched. Engine runs good but is worn. Of course this is my opinion, and I am no expert. You mention the doors are mismatched, has the cab been swapped too? The cab is green, and looks different than the doors, but the rest of the body appears to be ochre.

Re: Whats it worth?
Thanks for the advice. The bed and front clip are off another truck, cab is original. I know its another 2wd longbed but the chassis work and the fact it runs and drives is worth more than $1000. I couldn't sell it for that. I thought about finishing the body work but unsure about spending the time when I have other projects waiting. I'm including the sheetmetal other than outer rockers. I was thinking $1500 just wanted some opinions from the professionals.

Re: Whats it worth?
That green carpet is awesome, I love it! I agree that the primer would help you get more bang for your buck but it depends if your time and whatnot is worth it.

Re: Whats it worth?
I would do the cab corners but leave it like it is, in your ad say that you left the paint as is so the new owner can see the condition of the the sheetmetal.

Re: Whats it worth?
I've debated selling it for yrs and come to the conclusion that it's better to sell it and use the cash on my shortbed that I 've always wanted to build. I decided to be realistic, recently becoming a father time and money are tightening up, especially in this economy. It's time for it to go. Grandpa and my dad don't care if its gone. It was a work truck and well beaten by both. Grandpa replaced it with a ford for hells sake! It'll make someone a good truck.

Re: Whats it worth?
If you have the time I think you should list it for sale and slowly work on it. Small things will greatly increase the value. It sounds like you have a solid body just need a couple odds and ends. If it doesn't sell right away replace the rockers, increase your price a little, and try again. I don't think it would take much work to be in the $2,000 range or even a little higher. The engine isn't a big deal, anyone can wrench on an engine, but the rockers may push some people away.
A junkyard bench seat probably wouldn't cost much but would make the interior look a lot better. All you need is one with good foam and throw a saddle blanket type cover over it. As a side note my in-laws live in Hurricane, just around the corner from you. Beautiful part of the counrty you live in.

Re: Whats it worth?
sorry but i would say around $800 to $900 in my area... I sold this truck last year it took 3 months to sell it. 1970 3/4 ton 2 wheel drive original 350 engine with 130,000 miles with a turbo 400 tranny all original sheet metal chrome wheels and 75% tires. only rust was very small amount in the drivers rocker.... only got $1200 for mine.
