Narrowing a rear end
how hard is it to narrow a 10 bolt rear end I need it to measure 54 inches it measures 57 now from the backing plates. Do I have o get new axles or can you re spline the existing ones. Does anyone know or have an idea what this will cost?

Re: Narrowing a rear end
not worth the money or effort compared to a pair of new wheels with a bit more backspacing

Yes I need 54 inches so my wheels will work, so it looks like I need some new axles

Re: Narrowing a rear end
The 88-98 housings are about .750" wider per side vs. 71-87's. The 71-87's are .750" wider vs. the 6x-69's. Sounds line the 62" wheel mounting surface to WMS of the 6x-69 truck housing would be the right dimension or narrowing your current unit.
What year truck? What size & back-space on the wheels in question?

Re: Narrowing a rear end
The x is a generic figure in the 6x-69 example. Such as 67-69...
