Re: duramax swap???

I am in the exact same boat...I am doing research now for the end of the year...hopefully by the end of the year I'll be able to find a good donor truck and have everything lined up where I can start the swap...

Re: duramax swap???

Im also very interested in this. I know ive seen that one on youtube with a detriot 2 stroke diesel. But the guy didnt know much about it, since he didnt build it.

Im looking to do the same thing when my 305 kicks the bucket. Probably a Cummins m11 though

Re: duramax swap???

Theres a guys on this forum (Lonnie Pavtis) that is currently doing one and documenting it pretty good:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=368734

He also has a website here:

http://www.lonniesperformance.com/82chevyduramax.htm

He is a very helpful guy and I'm sure he'd answer any questions!! Its pretty extensive... I'm looking into it as well. The easiest way would be to get a complete donor truck and take everything related to drivetrain and wiring for the swap.

Re: duramax swap???

Was for sale 3 months ago for about 17k. Wish it was mine, I would get rid of my 07 in a heartbeat for this or something close to it.

Re: duramax swap???

I'm picking up my truck for my cummins convert on sat! Done a LOT of research and it is no easy task thats for sure, a lot of fabrication and beat to fit paint to match ha ha Like said above its best to get the entire truck to pull parts off of. Roll overs work well for this because they usually don't have damage to the drivetrain or front end of the vehicle. Search local salvage yards or find someone that can go to the insurance auction for you.

Thats My truck I bought a rolled 01 GMC for 6500 in 09. I had a sucoast V w a 6 speed conversion I paid 7500 for and a twin turbo kit for 5k. + Fass 150/150 lift pump and bilet pickup. I builts a 205 tcase mated by me the allison, I ran a modified D60 ford front with a big brake kit. It has keyless entry Power locks, power windows, and 05 tahoe rear seats that pull out like the tahoe did.

Putting a Cummins in a chev is a waste IMO the Duramax WANTS TO be there. and You CANT get the power from ths cummins that you can from a Dmax for the money. 500 hp from a dmax is a TUNE 500 HP from a cummins is an EMPTY Wallet
