It has 11.5 inches taken out of the front of the bed to fit on the shorter blazer frame.

Re: Super Short 4x4 LS6 Build
Ive decided to redo the body and paint. The truck has a lot of bondo from the previous build. Going to take the bondo out and fresh paint.

Re: Super Short 4x4 LS6 Build
The roof on this one had 1/2 inch bondo for some reason. I figured it would all crack out with the new motor.

Re: Super Short 4x4 LS6 Build
Was any length taken out of the rear? Surprisingly, the bed looks pretty well balanced! Not too bad at all!

Re: Super Short 4x4 LS6 Build
I actually just filled the side filler in and put one on the bed rail. That old one didnt match the body contour and had to much of gap for my tatse. Here is the picture of the new filler we fabricated.

Re: Super Short 4x4 LS6 Build
It was all taken out of the front. It is actually a blazer rear with a bed front welded on the front. It still has blazer seat holes in bed and orginal blazer filler is welded up

Re: Super Short 4x4 LS6 Build
I've been wondering how one would look with a full body on a blazer frame! I'm thinking I'll attempt this once I find a decent body to work with. Nice work!

Re: Super Short 4x4 LS6 Build
Hey fldbred. Thats exactly why I chose a ls6 for this build. The motor def. seems pretty responsive. I think it will make for a very impressive 4x4. I had to set the motor and transmission foward 2 inches for tall valve covers to clear the firewall. I went with flowtech ceramic coated headers and had to knotch the top of frame on passenger side about 1/4 inch. The headers are really close to leaf spring and frame ralis, but the do clear. Here is a picture of the motor as it is now.
I dont know of any way to put a full truck body on a blazer frame because the wheel base would be to short and fender wells would not match axles, unless you relocated axles |

Re: Super Short 4x4 LS6 Build
Yep,that LS6 BB is one powerful motor! In pure stock form, with just headers it ran 12.8 at 112MPH! That was with no traction in a 3800lb. car! I used to run against the Hemi cars, and when I showed up they would change their class from stock to bracket!
Did you stay with the solid lifters? They can get to be a pain in the butt after a while! Great project! Get out there and get it finished! LOL! ![]() ![]() |
