Welcome!!!

The rust above the windshield isn't good, but it can be repaired if you have the skills or the wallet big enough. If you feel confident doing it you could always go to a scrap yard and cut the top off of a cab to graft just that section onto your cab. Taking the whole top just makes it easier and gives you more material to work with rather than guessing as to how much you'd need. Unfortunately you won't know the extent of the damage till you remove the windshield...and be careful removing that windshield they're expensive for your truck.

Re: newbie here with a 60 C10

my winshield is already broke but i am lucky enough i work for a salvage yard that has one with all the windows that are good and a cab with a good roof thinking of cutting it level with the dash and going from there. i was really suprised there was no rust in the floor and only one rocker has one pin hole in it. im hoping to build it into a trailer puller for my 54 chevy gasser that im building. best thing about this truck is i only paid $200 for it.

Shoot...take the whole truck if you can then...seriously. It might be less work to swap cabs...and you could make a matching trailer out of the bed of the other truck!

If you see a pinhole, there's more that you can't see. Start probing with a scratch awl or get the cab sandblasted.

welcome!!! that truck is to beautiful to repaint you should keep it with the original paint and just fix the rusty window area but make it hardly noticeable!

Awesome truck! Don't get discouraged...replacement will be pretty easy if you just take your time and make a patch panel. You only need rudimentary body skills and some welding won't hurt either!

WElcome to the forum

I think you have the best plan already. Just cut the roof off of a donor cab midway thru the windows and weld it to your cab. Just take your time and measure a lot to be sure your window openings are the right size, and everything stays square.

Post up some pics when you do so others can see what and how you are doing it.

Re: newbie here with a 60 C10

i would like to keep it looking as close to the way it dose now just need to fix top of winshield and maybe paint the roof as i like how it looks. also thinking of staying with the 235 and doing front disc conversion and a 5 bolt rearend but that would be the most i would do for mods other than engine mods. also to switch the cab with the one i have at work would be a down grade as that one is rotted beyond repair but dose have all the a/c parts that i need to put in mine
