Well, Monday should be a great day!!!

My wife should be picking up a 2004 LQ4 w/149k miles for me!! Even though I won't be able to touch for a few more months, it will be there for me when I get home!
My 1st question about it though, what does it take to make it DBC instead of DBW? I know I will need a DBC TB but what else? The motor will come complete from intake to oil pan including alt, and starter for $950. It will not have a tb, comp or harness but that isn't a big deal bc I can get that stuff for relatively cheap. I will not need the AC right now bc that will be later on.

Re: Well, Monday should be a great day!!!

I am buying a stand alone harness. Does the intake have provisions for a throttle cable bracket?

Re: Well, Monday should be a great day!!!

yes i believe so. theres minor differences between yrs of the truck intake, might just be easiest to swap intakes if thats the case. but theres a ton of threads when i googled dbw to dbc, when you start the conversion i'd suggest doing the same. shouldnt be an issue though its a pretty common swap it seems.

Re: Well, Monday should be a great day!!!

My next issue is how to hook up a kickdown cable assy. I will have ath350 behind it for now with a 200 4r in the near future.

Re: Well, Monday should be a great day!!!

Your intake will most likley have the provisions for the throttle cable bracket, but probably won't have the threaded inserts in them. You can take them out of a junk intake and they just press in. Then you can just get a wiring harness for DBC and a PCM to march and you should be good to go. I would try to find a 411 PCM because they're plentiful and easy to tune. The 2004 may or may not have IAC drivers in it, so it may or may not be able to run a DBC tune.

And try the conversions and hybrids section of ls1 tech.com, you should be able to find out how to hook up your kick down on there as I've seen it done alot, but haven't done it personally. Shouldn't be too hard I wouldn't think.
