you can but will have a 14" gap between the bed and cab, an you will have to remove 5-6" from the rear of the frame for the short bed to sit down level.

Putting a short bed on a long frame lets you do extra mods though.

I was wondering how to convert a long box into a short box... decided to just bob the back end, it was more for departure angle than a shorter wheelbase that I was going for.

you could also slide a small wire welder in there and have a work truck
