Drop shock ??
Hey guys,
I'm in the process of lowering the truck with spindles and drop blocks. Well I'm still waiting on a few things so I haven't torn the truck apart yet, but have most of the parts sitting in the garage. Right now my truck has only a spring drop, which I believe is a 2" or 3" inch drop spring in the front and a 4" in back. So I went ahead and ordered some drop shocks since I thought it would be a good time to replace the old shocks. I ordered the KYB shocks (same part # as ECE sells in their 4/6 drop kit). I put the new shock up in place and compared it to the current shocks and noticed at ride height the truck measures around 11" eye to eye. These KYB shocks I ordered bottom out at 10".......what gives?? Did I get the wrong shocks, does my truck have a lower than 3" drop spring? If it matters the ground to middle wheel arch is 30" right now. Should I look for a even shorter shock? |

Re: Drop shock ??
any suggestions guys?
I also went to the monroe website and looked at some part #'s for shocks that guys usually use up front and the compressed length on those were 10 1/8", which would still be long. I need some help!! |

One solution would be to increase the dimension between the shock mounting positions. Up front, that means raising the upper mount. The other solution is to try contacting whomever your purchased the shocks from for an exchange. I prefer to use off the shelf C10 spec'd units & move the mounts if possible.

Re: Drop shock ??
Thanks scoti,
How do you move the mount up, Is it as simple as removing the old mount and drilling a new hole for the lupper shock mount? |

Re: Drop shock ??
Thanks alot Keith!
you guys are life-savers. I went ahead and cancelled my rear shock purchase because of it being backordered for weeks. I think Im going to go ahead and just relocate the top shockmount, instead of sending these shocks back and having the hassle of paying shipping and returning. Is it hard at all to relocate the top mount? |

Re: Drop shock ??
I actually like the upper shock mount and shock from www.PorterbuiltStreetRods.com alot better.
These are the shocks and mounts shown with the Dropmember front crossmember,... but Nate sells them for stock crossmembers also.
