So iam pretty much ready to bagg my 78 stepside. I just wana know what bags to chose and the best bang for my buck. its my first time so iam kinda lost. Can any one school me on baggs? I'd appreciate any help. Thanx!!

I bought slam specialties bags, I would stay away from their ss series, I hear bad things about them ripping. But most people stick to either slam specialties, dominator, or firestone air bags.

Thats to generic of a question to give an informed answer. What is your over all plan for your system? This will give you a good visual of what should be a part of your system.

I have the re-8 on my truck, but I'm still building the truck so I can't tell you how they ride!

And as far as valves go, the bigger the valve the faster they go up and down, some like it slower because it's easier to control and others like it fast because you can almost make the truck hop off the ground. As far as how many, do you want individual control of each corner? Or do you just want a front and back setup?

The diagram really helped me understand, thanx!!. As far as my suspension. Its guna be mostlikely my dayli driver and weekend cruiser. I want a good ride, i dont wana be bouncing around. I dont want to get fancy either. Just up and down. I heard its good to have side to side to control the front. True? I wana lay frame too. Thats pretty much it.

Make sure you have quality drop shocks and sway bar(s).

That will make cornering at speed much better since there is no transfer of air from bag to bag.

The last sentence got you.
Laying frame isn't cheap or easy.

You can install bags up front and run an "air-over-leaf" set up on your rear leaf springs fairly cheap.
You can piece together a fairly cheap air management system with 1 compressor, 1 tank and manual valves.
But getting the frame on the ground is going to cost alot more money.
What kind of budget do you have set aside for your suspension?

Subscribing Cause i am thinking about going to air myself. I don't really care about going up and down or laying frame just want a cool stance and cadillac ride quality.

For my budget i got about 1500. I'am not worried bout metal or welding cause were guna do it at my father inlaws welding shop. And valves iam getting them at a good price from a buddy that works

My best advice is do your research, and don't skimp. The less time and effort you put into your air suspension the worse the ride quality and reliability will suffer. If you put together the cheapest parts and cut corners, trust me you'll hate it and swear off bags forever. Seen it 1000 times. Not to scare you away form them, a good bag job will ride awesome and be totally reliable. They are a lot of fun. But, its true, you get what you pay for.

In my opinion,... the best setup to lay frame, for the 73-87 trucks comes from Porterbuilt Street Rods.
Read this and you will see all the details of the install.
Dinos white truck has a KP 6-link on the rear.
Porterbuilt now sells his own 4-link rear suspension kit.
