You had to buy this fine accessory if you wanted your truck to have a "Mod Bod".

I don't know if Phoenix Graphics was in business back then. If they were, maybe they did make them for GM. It was most likely whoever made all the other graphics for the automakers. This was about the beginning of their use, which grew bigger into the '70s.

It's tragic that the tailgate decal is missing, otherwise that would be the holy grail for someone.

Re: NOS 1969-1970-1971-1972 Chevrolet Truck New HAWK Decal Kit

I think these were a '72 model item. The '72's came to us with new horsepower and torque ratings, to comply with the government regulations which changed from BHP (Brake Horse Power @ the flywheel) to SAE Net (@ the rear wheels).

So, the manufacturers dreamed up ways of making a vehicle that seemingly didn't have the previous years' performance, at least look like it had something going, even if it didn't physically enhance the performance. It's called HYPE.

The old saying that I grew up with, "If you can't make it run, make it loud", apparently also applied to paint jobs and decals.

But, it won't be cheap.
