Gurgling sound from heater core
When I first bought my truck I had the cooling system flushed and filled with new coolant. Now, as I'm driving -- with the motor warmed up -- I sometimes hear a gurgling sound coming from under the dash in the area of the heater core. I did some searching and saw some others had the same issue. But in each case, they were reporting no heat.
I have good heat, no leaks. Just this annoying sound coming from under the dash. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

bump:
Any gurgling sound you hear is caused by air in the fluid -but you knew that already. The problem is how to get it out of there. I don't have an answer for you but maybe somebody else that has had the problem can tell you what they did. forgot to add: make absolutely sure it's a gurgling sound and not a sound made by a worn or lose fan motor which could mimic that. Re: Gurgling sound from heater core
it might be the shut of valve, if your truck has a/c
as the coolant gets sucked out of the core faster than the mostly closed inlet will flow.. check the valve if you have a/c.. and back flush the core.. |

Re: Gurgling sound from heater core
Don't worry about it. Just keep an eye on the radiator level.

Re: Gurgling sound from heater core
well things to do when you buy one of these trucks one is put all new motor mounts in change the radiator all the belts and hoses transmission gasket and filter U joints check rear fluid Brakes and I like the heater box pulled open and replace it.
I love heater cores I own a 1965 3/4 ton and man with out that dang thing i would of had a blown head gasket long ago.See i live in Calif near the desert.and I've been hauling scrap for the better part of 20 years i have over 700,000 miles on the poor engine that has the factory 2 speed power glide with a 410 gear. My grand father always told me you see the truck getting hot turn on the heater. He said to turn it on even if its 103 out side. If you don't you be walking and frying but i rather fry in the truck and get home |

Re: Gurgling sound from heater core
try switching the locations around where the hoses hook to the heater core that will reverse the flow of what you have now and could make a didderence?????
