Help me decide

Well, the times come, I've gone back to work and have some extra cash so it's time to get new rims and tires for the 84. I'm lowering the truck 4" now that I can afford a set of 33's. But I can't decide what rims to get, I've narrowed the search down, but can't decide. So what do you guys think?

Come on man, leave it up in the air! Personally, I'd still just use the wheels you have on it no matter what tire size you're running. If you really want to get rid of those wheels for something different, I'd go with the Moto Metals. They're the most 4x4 friendly black/chrome wheel I've seen around. A few friends of mine run them on NBS Chevy trucks and they look decent.

but if you really,really want my opinion of the wheels, get the Addicts, something about the name...and they look cool.

When I bought the truck, I had intended to keep it the way it was, but I use it everyday, and it`s getting too expensive to run it with gas going over 1.50 a liter. So I decide to lower it when I went back to work, put smaller narrower tires on with a less aggresive tread. Plus there are blocks up front too lift it, and I hate blocks so they gotta go. The reason I`m changing the rims is because the ones on the truck are 16x12`s and are too wide for the tire size I wanna run. So I`m looking for 8-10" wide rim, Haven't decide on diameter yet but no bigger then 18". When I get a new truck in a few years, then the 84 is getting a 6-8" lift and 36-37's, but for now it's gotta go down.

I say keep the set up you have.. the money you spend on new wheels/tires will go a long ways towards gas. I don't see you "saving" money by spending money for a different set up... it'll take a while for you to break even... if you even do. Anyways just my thoughts... it looks great now., also the ones you have on now will not go out of style on a 4x4... the black ones will eventually.

XD ADDICTS! get those wow i never knew someone was going to put these modern black rims like me crap.Im in the same situation im putting xd addicts exact same ones you see there.The other ones look way to flashy for this kind of truck and would look to ugly.Im going to possibly put 12x8 im getting 33s idk yet on some 35s when i lift my truck in the comming weeks and i buy the rims in the comming month.Be cautious when you buy these rims for a tire that has a bead to cover the lip of the rim its good for scuffing but you dont offroad like me so it should be fine.DEF get the xd addicts! they look hot but i dont think your doing the right thing lowering the truck and then you say your going to lift it lol thats pointless just take the blocks off.Put a bed cover and save milage that way.Thats what im going to do you wont save anymore gas milage then a lowered truck.Plus buying these rims and new tires is not going to be cheap i would know im saving my pennies for this exact same setup.

Taking the blocks out lowers the truck 4". And going down to smaller, and narrower 33" tires with less aggressive tread will net me 2-3 times more MPG gain then a bed cover. Bed covers look good but, only gain you tenths in fuel economy, they don't work like everyone thinks they do. Now, I said I'm lowering the truck while it's my DD, and in a few years when I get a new truck and the 84 is a weekend driver then I'll lift it back up, properly (no blocks) 8" on 37-38's. I could get the proper lift now, but that won't help the gas mileage or functionality of the truck, That I need. All I'm doing right now is taking an unsafe lift out of the truck, and untill the truck isn't needed everyday putting smaller tires on and different rims. Even if I keep the lift, and just get different tires, 33's are cheaper then 35's and in order to run the narrow 33 I want I need a narrower rim, other wise I'd keep the ones I have. I know alot of people think I should keep the lift, but I've weighed my options and the route I'm going is the best and most inexpensive thing I can do right now. The 33's also makes my gear ratio alittle more bearable. If I stay with the 35's I really need to regear which isn't cheap.

I dont care for any of the wheels you pictured, but I did read what you said and fully understand your reason'n.
my vote is to find some cheap used wheel's (mabey rally's) and the tire's you want, sell your old tire's and wheel's. then down the road lift the truck properly and pick out a fancy wheel then.
also any fuel save'ns from a bed cover would NEVER equal the cost of the cover !

I thought about steel ralleys but its a 3/4ton truck and factory steels are 16.5's and it's getting so hard to find tires for that rim these days. And alot of the trucks in town have steel wheels, I want something different. I really am leaning towards the addicts, I've seen them mounted and they look even better then the pic.

no doubt they do look awesome, should give it a modern look too, and the grapplers are awesome looking tires too!

I didn't mean mounted on a truck, I just meant with the tire mounted, specifically the style of tire I want

I see why your asking and the reason behind it. I dont know how much the addicts are but you decide, you gotta live with it anyway.

Me personally, I'd be torn between the "Addict" wheels and the "Moto Metal" wheels. But like has been said, ultimately its your choice lol.

Smaller, lighter wheels are going to get you better acceleration, higher top end, and better gas mileage. Less unsprung weight. All those wheels you posted are extremely heavy, and are not going to do you any favors. 33" tires aren't going to help either. Some narrow 31s, 15" rims, and get rid of those blocks. The front should never be lifted with blocks, and they're not generally a good idea on the rear.

Can't do 15's the truck it a 3/4 ton so 16 is the lowest it'll go. Sorry I can do 15's but the offset is just stupid. The rims and tires I have now are extremely heavy, the 33's and rims I'm look at now are heavy, but not as heavy as my current setup, so it's an improvement.

You've got the same wheels I started with on your truck now, just do what I did & powder coat the inner section or vice-versa. Otherwise I like the Addict black's.

Factory steel wheels from the 80s trucks are 16s not 16.5s.

I did not know that, but they must be few and far between because I never see them for sale around here, everything is 16.5.

does anyone know if the hole in the center of the rim on the Addicts will be big enough for my hubs? I was on the XD site and it doesn't say that the rims will fit the older solid axle GM's. I'm wondering if I order rims with the correct offset I need but for say a 05 2500hdm if they'll work on my truck, or am I basically screwed for any of the rims I picked?

There won't be any problem with the center hole on an 8 lug truck. Most all the newer 8 lug trucks have full floating rear axles that are larger in diameter than you front hubs. So, no problems with the hole size.
