67 gmc

Hey Guys, I'm new to the website and enjoy all the info on here, so i'm hoping to find someone's help answering some question i have. I have recently bought 1967 GMC C15 (i think). It's a short wheelbase stepside, on the driverside the spare tire is mount to the outside of the truck. The wheel housing is notched out for the tire. I've seen this on long wheelbase trucks but not on short, was this a option or has someone taking this off a long wheel base. Second someone put a steel plate on the inside of the bed some time ago, i want to put the wood bed back in. Is this a hard job? Thanks for the help. Josh

Yes, the wheel mount was available on the shortbed. As for the bed repair, it shouldnt be too hard as long as the plate isnt covering up alot of damage (rust) or the plate is welded in. Just remove the plate and if the cross sills are still good just put the new wood kit in.
