should i ditch the grille?

I've never been a fan of phantom grilles but I thought it wuld look good on the dually and I got it cheap. i am thinking of swapping for a 88-91 billet gmc style grille, or an 86 grille with billet insert, I even thought powder coating the grille and surround might look ok. Ay opinions?

89-91 Chevrolet or GMC grille would be my 1st choice.

Re: should i ditch the grille?

nothen looks better then the '89-'91 GMC grill, and imo it's the only one that looks good with a billet insert.
I need to find another '89-'91 GMC grill for the '84 4X4 I recently bought.

Re: should i ditch the grille?

Adam I like the phantom myself, but if you do change it go to the newer 88-91, that's what I would have done if I had kept my 86.

Re: should i ditch the grille?

Put the stock one back in and send me the phantom. Ill put it to good use for you.

On a different note I was very interested in your truck unfortunately the drive from IL to CO and the cost of gas is what made me change my mind.

very nice truck!!!

Re: should i ditch the grille?

x2 on the 73-80 front clip, they just look so much better 81-91 as they are just to flat in the front, and everyone is putting those on their trucks. don't be a sheep lol.

put a stock front end on it, like 81-87 or 89-91

those phantom grills are ugly

it looks good the way it is, but if you want a change I'd go with a 88-91 with a billet insert

Re: should i ditch the grille?

Thanks for the input everyone. I think ill try to find a nice 88-91 grille (already have the support/harness) and spend a weekend swapping it. I might lose the smoked lenses if I go with the stock grille too.

Re: should i ditch the grille?

I voted to black it out and stay phantom.... I am not crazy about the 89-91(and I have an 89). If I had my preference- i like the chevy grilles that have the body colored center bar. 2nd- i like the phantom....if you pull yours out- LMK- I'd take it off your hands.
